Fiorella Martin - The Attachment Architect - What Is Real Attraction

Most women are feeling the wrong signal and calling it attraction. After 24 years, Fiorella Martin reveals what real attraction actually feels like.

Let me ask you something.

Think about the last time you felt an instant, overwhelming attraction to someone.

That electric feeling. The urgency. The almost physical pull toward them.

Did it end well?

If you’re like most of the women I work with — it didn’t.

And there’s a reason for that.

Because what most of us have been taught to call attraction — that immediate, intoxicating chemistry — is not attraction at all.

It’s a signal. And it’s telling you something important.

Run.

What True Attraction Actually Feels Like

Real attraction is quieter than you’d expect.

It has a pulse — at the heart level. A warmth. An energy that moves toward another person slowly and with a sense of recognition.

Not urgency. Recognition.

Like two souls that somehow already know each other.

You feel safe in their proximity before a single word is spoken. Comfortable before any touch. There is a sense — inexplicable and real — of coming home.

This is true attraction.

It doesn’t grab you. It doesn’t consume you. It doesn’t make you lose your mind.

It makes you feel — perhaps for the first time — completely at ease.

Why Instant Chemistry Is Actually A Warning Sign

Here’s what 24 years of working with women has taught me.

That overwhelming, urgent, I-need-to-be-near-this-person-immediately feeling?

It’s not love. It’s not even attraction.

It’s recognition of a familiar wound.

When you feel that instant pull — that almost addictive chemistry upon first meeting someone you don’t even know yet — your subconscious has just identified someone who matches the psychological profile of the parent or parents who hurt you most.

Your nervous system knows this person. Not because they’re right for you. Because they feel familiar — the family you grew up in. With all its pain intact.

As Harville Hendrix observed — we unconsciously follow a “Love = Home” equation. We can only choose what is familiar until we heal from that.

What feels like passion in those moments is not passion at all. It is the unhealed need for love from the parent who could never provide it — reaching out desperately toward whoever reminds it most of that original wound.

And if you feel it — the wisest thing you can do is slow down. Or walk away entirely.

The Heartbreaking Other Side

Here’s the part that stays with me most.

When a woman has unresolved attachment wounds and Shadow Parts running her behaviour — she will often do something that breaks my heart to witness.

She will meet someone genuinely good. Genuinely available. Genuinely interested in her.

And she will dismiss him. Sabotage it. Find reasons it won’t work.

Not because he isn’t right for her.

But because deep down — beneath her awareness — she doesn’t feel worthy of him.

He feels too calm. Too safe. Too easy.

And easy feels wrong when you’ve been wired for chaos.

Years later — after the healing — I watch women realise two things simultaneously.

He was the right one.

And she would have made his life hell.

Not because she was a bad person. But because she wasn’t ready. The unhealed parts would have created the familiar dynamic regardless — triggering conflict where there was none, creating distance where there was closeness, manufacturing the inevitable ending even with someone who had every intention of staying.

This is what unhealed attachment does.

It doesn’t just choose the wrong person.

It pushes away the right one.

The Third Pattern — Safe But Empty

There’s one more pattern worth naming.

Some women — particularly high achievers — find themselves repeatedly attracted to people they can’t fully invest in emotionally.

Someone they could walk away from without too much pain.

It feels like control. Like protection.

And it is — in a way. It’s the subconscious keeping real vulnerability safely out of reach.

No real risk. No real intimacy. No real love.

Just the performance of a relationship without the depth of one.

What Being Truly Attractive Actually Means

Here is something most people have completely backwards.

Attraction is not something you find in another person.

It is something you embody within yourself.

When you genuinely love who you are — not as a mantra, not as a practice, but as a lived reality — something shifts in how you move through the world.

When you love your life. What you do. How you spend your time.

When you no longer experience your life as something to be fixed or perfected.

When you feel peaceful. Joyful. Complete.

You become magnetic.

Not because you are trying to attract anyone. But because wholeness recognises wholeness.

That is true attraction.

And it was never about finding the right person.

It was always about becoming the right version of yourself.

What Changes After The Healing

When the attachment wounds are healed and the Shadow Parts are restored — attraction changes completely.

The addictive chemistry loses its pull. Not because you become numb — but because you become discerning.

You stop being drawn to intensity and start being drawn to ease.

You stop dismissing the good ones and start recognising them.

You stop choosing people you can control and start choosing people who genuinely meet you.

And when true attraction arrives — that quiet pulse, that warmth, that sense of recognition — you know it for what it is.

Not an addiction. Not a wound repeating itself.

Home.

Real home. For the first time.
